Living Area

This is the area where SIAU agents will perform their 24 hour shifts. This area includes the kitchen, day room, and the dormitory.

*I pull up outside the office and pull my truck into the POV garage. I get out and zip up my job shirt and grab my gear bag. I sling that on my shoulder and close the roll-up door. I kiss Hailey as we walk in, holding hands. I head to my locker and nod to my guys from the last shift. I make sure that everything is good for me and then bring my gear bag to the fire area. I rest my bunker gear on the door of the Squad and make sure that everything is set up, I walk back into he living room. I grab a Coke from the refrigerator and sit on the couch, waiting for Hailey to come out. I pull my phone out of my shirt pocket and start to check some emails.*

*I drive up to the facility and hop out my vehicle.*

'Hey, what's going on?' I say to Nick and Hailey.

*I drive to the building and park, then stepping out yell*
'Hello, Nick. Hey Hailey. Hi Payne. What's coming down the pipe?'
*pulls on my finger-less gloves*

*I give Nicholas a kiss as I climb out of my side of the truck and walk over to the back of the truck and get my duffle bag. I bring my stuff inside and decide to be different and change into my tactical stuff. I put my multicam arid stuff on and then walk into the living area. I head to the kitchen and look for stuff to get cooking for breakfast as a habit from my firefighting days. I see Nick walk into his office and see what we're doing for the day, so I turn to the guys as I start cracking the eggs.*

'So how's everyone doing this fine morning?'

*I head into my office and check on my emails. When I don't get any information worth while on my email, my blue phone rings on the table behind my desk. I sigh because I know that's my DOJ and FBI line and a call form them can't be good. I roll my chair back and pick it up.*

Me: "Special International Action Unit, McDill Air Force Base."

Caller: "Foxtrot Flashpoint Spartan. Authenticate."

Me: "Cobalt Nevada Flame."

Caller: "We have a situation for you in Santa Fe New Mexico."

Me: "Nature?"

Caller: "Mobile Hostage Situation with Gang involvement. Multiple Shooters. State Police and ICE are involved. We have reason to believe they want to take their way into LANL and are possibly enroute from the border."

Me: "The laboratory?"

Caller: "Roger."

Me: "Roger. We will have a team enroute shortly and we can be on station within four hours."

Caller: "Roger, update when mobile."

Me: "Roger. Station out."

*I hang up the phone and then curse as I head into the living area. I see everyone looking at me as I come out and sigh.*

'Gentlemen, lady. We have a domestic mission. Multiple shooters in a mobile hostage situation. I need full domestic loadout. Volk, you're taking the M-27, Payne, you're on the SR-25, Hail, bring an assault rifle or a submachine gun. We're in Arid's and we'll bring helmets since we;re out in New Mexico. These guys are likely to go for the laboratory, so that could be a real problem and we need to stop them before that happens. Volk, I need all of everyone's weapons on the aircraft. Hail, you're on computers. Payne, I need an aircraft checked for us to gear up in and ready to move. I'll see what other information I can gather on this before we leave. We're wheels up in an hour and a half. Let's roll guys.'

*I head to my office and pick up the black line to see if I can make a connection with the agencies who have people in pursuit.*

*Suddenly I get chills as I realize we might are going out of town for a couple of days. Then I hear Nick tell me to get my sniper rifle and cackle with glee.*

"Hey Nick, do you have any more information on the situation? I need to know who it is I am supposed to make go bum-bum."

*I grab my bag and get ready to get our transport to New Mexico and jog off to the hangar. En route I chortle with un-contained glee as I realize what it is that I am about to do.*

"What-what-what-what-what's up dawg " *I say as I swagger in*

*I pull up in my truck and sigh. I let go of Hale's hand and get out my side of the truck where I head to the rear. I open up the tailgate and reach in to grab my gear. I drape my vest across my arm and I grab my duffle bag. I lock my truck, head to the door, swipe my keycard, and hold the door for Hale. We head into the garage area, where she gives me a kiss and heads up to the briefing area while I head to the REP truck, where I start to position my gear. I listen for a minute and hear pretty much absolute quiet in the station, so I start wondering if anyone else is present.*

*I arrive into the station, exhausted from barely getting any sleep. I get my cup of coffee and grab my phone from the charging cable to head into the station. While entering the building, I see Nick near the REP truck with his gear getting ready.*

"Hey, Nick. How's it going? I don't notice anyone else, do you know where everyone else is?

*I hear Michael walk in, so I turn around and nod to him.*

'I'm all right. Hale's here. I'm still waiting for the other ESU person. If you don't mind, I'll come and address y'all upstairs before y'all roll out. Give me five minutes and I'll head up.'

'Alright, see you in five.'

*I turn to to go upstairs to wait for Nick and I see Hale waiting.*

'Hey, Hale.'

*I go to the nearest table to drink my coffee to get energized while waiting for Nick to meet us.*

*After we drop Abigail off at her day care, we pull up in the rear of the old ESU sub-station. I get out of Nick's truck as we arrive and I wait for him to grab all of his garbage. Its usually a game to make fun of the amount of crap that he has to carry, but since the department just merged ESU and the Major Crimes units, its a bit more awkward since I technically work for him now. I head in with him and then head up to the briefing area while he puts his garbage away. I'm just hoping that the transition can be easier, considering that I've got not only a new sergeant, but a new partner. I wait in the briefing room for whomever it is. Eventually, someone arrives and introduces himself. I recognize him from working on a few cases.*

'Hey, sarge.'

*I see him head to a table to start drinking his coffee, so I head to the side of the room and rest my back on the wall while I lean my feet up on the table. Since the building was designed for much larger groups, I'm finding it kind of roomy, so I'm okay with the change. For now, at least.*

*I finish up with my stuff at the REP truck and head up to the briefing room. When I get in, I see Church and Hale leaning against the wall, so I decide that I might as well get the short meeting over as soon as possible.*

‘All right guys. First of all, let me welcome y’all from major crimes. We’ve been merged, so that makes things a bit different for y’all. Yes, you still get to choose whichever cases that you would like to work. The main differences is how arrest warrants are going to be carried out. Because we are all one division, you guys need to be tactically qualified, which I know you guys are. The point is, when we hit a house, you guys are going to actually be in the front of the stack, rather than toward the end. When there is any sort of warrant that we need that is high risk, then you guys are the detectives who will serve it. If you guys don’t have any questions, then y’all can go and hit the streets. I don’t think that you guys need to work on any cases right now, so go ahead and chill. Any questions?’

*I glance over my notes one last time as I lean my arm against the podium, waiting to see if anyone has any questions.*

*After letting what Nicholas said, I didn't have any questions about anything.*

'I don't have any questions, but before I go home tonight, let me know if there is a case you would like us to work on. With that said, I'm going to watch a little t.v. in the REC room.

*During that talk with Nick, I realize someone had tried to call me, but I didn't answer three times. I look at the number and it was my wife, Carolina. After talking to her, I had to go home immediately because I didn't know what was going on.*

'Hey Nick, I gotta go home real quick, but I'll be back within the hour, ok?'
