Bay Area (First Floor) Empty Bay Area (First Floor)

This is the area where we are to post for any maintenance on vehicles or just to relax next to the rigs.  On the left side is the tactical and police units and on the right is the fire and USAR units.

*I finish changing as we get ready to land. Once we come in, I get out and then drop off my stuff fin my office, next to the cage and make sure my gear is locked in there as I head out to the bay. I head downstairs and see the new hose that we brought in. I take pull out my leatherman and cut off the retention straps and uncoil the hose. I bring a link up with me and hook it into the preconnect and start laying it out. When I can't get it straight, I begin to curse and then I turn around to the open bay door and throw the brand new 100 foot length of hose line about 25 feet and then start kicking the walls of the empty hose bay, thinking about what happened.*

*I walk look out of the window in the living room and see a package of hose go flying out of the bay. I look over to Payne and Robert.*

'What the hell was that? Let's take a walk down there and see what that was.'

*I put my cup of coffee down and walk down to the bay area, presumably with the guys following me. When I get down, I see Nick kicking the shirt out of the hose bed of the squad, so I immediately climb up, using the discrete system of footholds that I've learned in the years of using similar trucks. I climb up and wrap Nick in an embrace as he begins to sob about the loss of one of his best friends. I look to Payne and Robert and try to get them to start wracking the hose lines.*

*I see Nick throwing a tantrum and mess up the hose, don't blame him after all that we've been through.  So I decide to be a friend and get the hose as I try to forget about what happened-for now.  As it starts to be rolled up, I guide it to make sure the loops are even on top it.*

*I let Nick go back up to his office as I turn to the guys. I pull my fire groves out of my pocket and start to rack the hose lines. I make sure to keep the lines straight so that they won't have issues when we pull them off. I make sure to get the supply lines set up right in the hose bed. I look over the side of the engine and look at the guys.*

'LDH is done guys. Let's get the 2 1/2s and then we'll start the preconnects.'

*I finish up with those as I move across the divider and make sure to keep the lines straight as I pull the 2 1/2s in with the help of Payne as Robert keeps the line straight. Once we finish, I get ready to do the preconnects and then finish up the booster reels and then hop down, going to do Engine 17.*

*As we come down to the bay, I catch sight of Nicks breakdown. I wonder what it is like to lose a friend since I never really had one. Then I think about the little job I have to do.*

"So, after this, should we get Nick a beer or something? It wouldn't hurt, right?"

*I look to Hale and Robert and wait for an answer and wonder why we even do this shit sometimes.*
